This rooting smoothie packs a mean punch, loaded with veggies for high phytochemical intake and avocado for a dose of healthy fat. Carrots, beets and ginger are root vegetables which makes them very grounding, hence the name rooting smoothie. Beets are a powerful blood cleanser which is an important tool in healing any kind of disease. My food healing teacher would tell stories of people reversing cancer on a beet diet. Cilantro is a heavy metal chelator (learn about that here) and ginger is an anti-inflammatory and digestive aid. There is also a ton of fiber which helps keep the intestinal tract clean and running smoothly. I love the vibrant red color the beets give it, and the zing from the lime and ginger make it tangy and tantalizing. Avocado adds a creamy consistency and the carrots give it some sweetness. All these blended together makes for quite a tasty treat and an incredibly healthy, nutrient packed one. Super simple, and lots of yum!


Rooting Smoothie Ingredients

  • 1 small beet or 1/4 large beet (with greens)
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 avocado
  • 1/2 large tomato
  • few sprigs of cilantro
  • 1/2 lime
  • 1/2 inch slice of ginger root
  • add water and blend
