Healing and Recovery
Colostrum was used for years as a folk remedy in Scandinavian countries and dates back thousands of years in Ayurvedic medicine. Albert Sabin, the developer of the first polio vaccine originally isolated anti-polio antibodies from bovine colostrum. As medical advancement of “miracle drugs” became more prevalent people chose to ignore older, traditional methods which clearly worked but had very little scientific evidence to show why.
One problem invoked by medical drugs is that they are made to have highly specific actions in the body. This can cause undesirable side effects to other systems of the body. They can cause harm and even death. Adverse side effects happen much more than the public is aware of states Kenneth J. Frank, M.D. Drugs most commonly linked with deaths or serious side effects are pain medications (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, also known as NSAIDs) and those that alter the function of the immune system often used to treat symptoms of autoimmune disease.
“I saw, back in the late 1980s, that natural products were safer than drugs and that they had the potential to be equally or more effective in some cases. I know that the funding for drug research far outweighed any potential funding for research into natural products—this is due to the fact that a synthetic drug can be patented and sold at far higher prices than natural products, which cannot be patented.” Kenneth J. Frank, M.D.
The beauty of colostrum is that it is a multi-functional complex of bio-active ingredients produced by mammals for mammals. Instead of isolating certain properties out for a specific function, like in medical drugs, all ingredients are available to work in synergy as nature intended. It treats the body as a whole system instead of isolated symptoms. There are no harmful side effects and the science of how and why it works is now readily available.
